A sustainable memorial to Vaclev Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic, was installed on the grounds of Georgetown University in 2013.  The memorial’s landscape design of ever widening circles signifies the growing influence of the honored man, as he went from poet/playwright, to dissident and leader of The Velvet Revolution, and finally, to president of the newly created sovereign nation.  A Linden tree, the national tree, centers the sustainably constructed landscape.
