“Save the Bay” stormwater laws can make you think about how to deal with runoff. Washington, DC and it’s neighboring states no longer allow developers or contractors to tie gutters into the combined stormwater/sewer system. This may be a nightmare for some designers but for us it’s a dream! We can direct the gutters into a garden path system and thereby re charge the ground water table rather than letting sediment and pollution filled runoff flow into the neighboring watersheds. The Chesapeake will gain and so will you especially when the plan is combined with a recycling fountain, a Greenscreen, a native plant palette, and/or rain barrels to complete the sustainable picture.
